Anticipating Pixar’s new animation “Brave” (June 22, 2012)

I feel like this bushy, curly, red-haired Merida will be my favourite Disney princess. Yes, Merida is a character designed, developed and produced by Pixar, an independent subsidiary from the Walt Disney Animation Studios that have created Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Rapunzel, so it’s yet too hasty to include her in that category. In many ways the setting, story, characters in Brave appear to be an affiliation with those in Tangled (the last full-length animated feature by the Disney Animation Studios), rather than Toy Story or Cars. Personally favouring fairies and princesses over mechanics and robots, I happily welcome this new direction they chose 😀 I always admire the universal themes in the Pixar films, so I’m waiting to see the perils of the Scottish princess in Brave as an adorable and enjoyable representation of family, dreams and hope in the 21st century.
